What We Do
Chelmsford City Racecourse has a clearly defined mission; to stage the best racing possible, to reinvest in its facilities and British racing and to create unforgettable experiences that delight and excite our customers.
Innovation
The recognisable left handed oval at Chelmsford City Racecourse provides some of the fairest and captivating racing in the world. Its engineered shape is modelled on some of America’s greatest racecourses, has one of the best artificial surfaces and is set to be complete with a new turf course from 2022.
Being the UK’s newest racecourses has given us the opportunity to build world-class stables, our signature champagne flute floodlights and facilities as well as developing the team to operate it.
Supporting our Industry
From day one the racecourse has tried to give as much back to racing as it could. Our fundamental belief is that those who make racing happen ought to be rewarded. This has led us to developing an exceptional reputation for prize money and popularity for looking after Owners and Trainers.
Alongside this we have always worked to provide the best facilities and care for jockeys, stable staff and other participants of the sport having been the first racecourse to offer free food and drink to them on racedays.

As the UK’s newest racecourse and home of horseracing in Essex, we think different. We are committed to giving the best possible raceday experience to our guests and offering incredible value along the way. The racecourse continuously makes investments into the racegoer experience with more areas and better experiences to be enjoyed throughout the day and hope to make a day at the races a memorable one.
