The highly anticipated meeting has attracted interest from all over the UK and 11 from Ireland, underscoring the meeting’s appeal to participants both domestically and overseas. The level of participation underscores Chelmsford City Racecourse’s reputation as a supporter of the racing industry and a destination for prolific prize money.
“We strive to offer excellent prize money at all our fixtures but with £250,000 on offer on Good Friday, we are delighted to have so many entries and look forward to an exciting afternoon of racing and entertainment.” Neil Graham, Racing Director at Chelmsford City said.
“Trainers are forever banging the drum about prize-money but Chelmsford has always been a track that has listened and this is very good prize-money and the field sizes will represent that.” Middleham based Charlie Johnson who has seven entries added.
A highlight of the racecourse’s season, the excitement surrounding the event has been palpable, with tickets selling out three weeks in advance. Racing fans and casual spectators alike have shown an overwhelming interest with the day being presented as family-friendly and the ambition of fostering an interest in racing for a new generation of racegoers.
Chelmsford continues its formidable Spring programme the following week with a £155,000 card on Saturday 6 April which features the Cardinal Conditions Stakes worth a staggering £100,000 serving as the final leg of the European Road to the Kentucky Derby.
