Woodford Reserve Cardinal Stakes to be Shown Live on ITV1
In a significant occasion for racing fans and the Chelmsford community, Chelmsford City Racecourse is thrilled to announce that the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes will be broadcast live on ITV1 on Saturday, 6th April. This marks the prestigious venue’s return to the national spotlight on ITV since the Chelmsford City Cup in 2019.
The race meeting has attracted top-tier talent, including eight runners headlined by Aidan O’Brien’s Capulet, John & Thady Gosden’s Orne and Karl Burke’s Cuban Tiger. These runners are set to compete in what promises to be a thrilling showcase of international speed.
In an effort to accommodate the live television broadcast, Chelmsford City Racecourse, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) and ITV have adjusted the day’s schedule. The times of the meeting have been brought forward by approximately two hours, ensuring that the feature race will captivate audiences at the prime time of 3:30 pm. This alteration not only highlights the racecourse’s flexibility but also its commitment to providing an exceptional viewing experience for racing fans across the nation.
Moreover, in a significant change to the order of the race meeting, these adjustments ensure that the highlight of the day, the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes, receives the prominence it deserves on a day packed with top-quality racing action.
ITV’s coverage on the day will not be limited to Chelmsford City. The network will also be showcasing quality racing from Kempton and the Curragh, offering viewers a comprehensive horse racing experience that spans some of the most prestigious tracks in the UK and Ireland.
“We are delighted to partner with ITV1 to bring the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes to a national audience,” said Neil Graham, Racing Director of Chelmsford City Racecourse. “This is a significant moment for our course, the participants, and fans of horse racing everywhere. We’re proud to feature alongside other esteemed race meetings and to offer a day of exceptional racing entertainment.”
Fans are encouraged to tune in to ITV1 on Saturday, 6th April, to witness the spectacle of the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes and support their favourites in what is set to be a memorable day of horse racing.
