Thirteen Entries for £100,000 Woodford Reserve Cardinal Stakes
Racing returns to Chelmsford City on Thursday after damage caused by Storm Eunice forced the abandonment of several meetings with the first meeting back being a special one, featuring the Woodford Reserve Cardinal Conditions Stakes, which carries 30 points towards the first American Classic of the year as part of the European leg of the Road to the Kentucky Derby.
The £100,000 contest has attracted 13 entries, including two from the stable of champion trainer Charlie Appleby, three trained by Richard Hannon, and potential runners for John and Thady Gosden, William Haggas and Andrew Balding. The latter has entered the top-rated Harrow, a treble winner and Group 3-placed as a juvenile. Morning Soldier, trained in Ireland by Thomas Mullins, also holds an entry.
Racing gets underway on Thursday at 4.05pm and has drawn 114 entries across the seven races, all featuring enhanced prize-money levels for their grades.
