Chelmsford City Racecourse Supports Retraining of Racehorses with Horses for Courses Ambassador Programme
Chelmsford City Racecourse is proud to support Retraining of Racehorses (RoR) through their Horses for Courses ambassador programme, designed to support the transition of racehorses into new careers after racing. The racecourse is excited to introduce a former equine star at Chelmsford, Jack the Truth, as the racecourse’s ambassador.
Jack the Truth, who enjoyed remarkable success on the track, including four wins at Chelmsford City Racecourse, will play a pivotal role in the RoR programme. His journey from successful Handicapper to a model for retraining and rehabilitation showcases the potential for all racehorses to lead fulfilling lives post-racing.
The initiative aims to highlight the versatility, intelligence, and adaptability of Thoroughbreds. Through a comprehensive retraining regimen, the initiative supports retired racehorses in pursuit of a variety of second careers, ranging from dressage and show jumping to leisure riding.
Jack the Truth happily resides with Sophie just 10 minutes from Chelmsford City and as ambassador, will be involved in a series of public appearances and educational initiatives aimed at raising awareness about racehorses and the importance of their wellbeing beyond the racetrack.
“We are thrilled to have Jack the Truth join us as the face of our Retraining of Racehorses programme,” said Jo Flaherty, Head of Community at Chelmsford City Racecourse. “Jack’s story is a testament to what can be achieved with dedication, care, and respect for the innate abilities of these amazing animals. We look forward to inspiring and educating the public on the significant impact of retraining racehorses.
Chelmsford City Racecourse is committed to the welfare of racehorses, both during and after their racing careers. This initiative emphasises the racecourse’s dedication to responsible horse care and its belief in the importance of providing a meaningful life for these magnificent animals after their racing days are over.
Chelmsford City Racecourse invites the community and horse enthusiasts everywhere to support this vital initiative.
