Chelmsford City Racecourse Signals Environmental Commitment and Joins British Association For Sustainable Sport

Chelmsford City Racecourse is delighted to announce its membership of the British Association for Sustainable Sport (BASIS), the sustainability hub for sport in the UK.

Eager to be at the forefont of the industry by implementing good sustainable practices and achieving the highest standards of environmental behaviour, Chelmsford City Racecourse is joining a host of leading clubs and governing bodies in securing a place in the top tier of sustainability in sport.

For more than a decade, BASIS has driven the growth in understanding, expertise and commitment on sustainability in sport, helping members to shape and achieve their goals.

Jo Flaherty, a Senior Executive at Chelmsford City Racecourse said “We are delighted to join BASIS. Environmental responsibility is a key priority for us from helping sport to reduce waste and transitioning renewable energies to preparing sport for the impacts of climate change. We are looking to make changes that have an impact across all areas of the racecourse and are roadmapping several exciting developments to reduce our carbon omissions. These include the introduction of the ‘One Cup Solution’, a 100% recyclable single use cup system and evaluating our recycling of waste.”
