Every Shade of Showstopping

We’re shining a light on inspirational women by sharing their stories in the countdown to one of the most stylish events of the year.

Chelmsford City Racecourse is excited to announce a new partnership with MAC Cosmetics, based in John Lewis, Bond Street, Chelmsford, as part of its ongoing Showstopping Women campaign. Together, they are launching “Every Shade of Showstopping,” a bold and inclusive initiative that celebrates and shares the stories of inspirational women in the lead-up to the iconic Ladies Day fixture.

Traditionally, Ladies Day has been celebrated for its elegance and fashion. However, Chelmsford City Racecourse are redefining Ladies Day as a celebration of women and a platform for empowerment. “Showstopping Women,” launched in 2024, aims to highlight the strength, resilience, and success of inspirational women, from female jockeys to leaders within their communities and industries.

In 2025, Showstopping Women is being enhanced through a creative collaboration with MAC Cosmetics. With a shared mission to uplift and empower women from all walks of life, “Every Shade of Showstopping” will highlight a diverse range of extraordinary women, recognising their stories, achievements, and individuality through beauty, storytelling, and visibility.

A Campaign with Depth and Glamour

A handpicked group of women, ranging from athletes and entrepreneurs to trailblazers and unsung heroes, will be featured in a series of intimate stories and receive professional MAC makeover experiences. Some of these Showstopping Women will be filmed as they share their journeys and transformations leading up to Ladies Day, while others will receive exclusive styling and support from MAC on the special day itself. From getting glammed up at MAC in John Lewis to walking the racecourse with pride and confidence, these women will be honoured not just for what they wear but for who they are.

Nominate a Showstopping Woman

As part of the campaign, Chelmsford City Racecourse is inviting the public to nominate women who deserve the spotlight—those who have overcome challenges, made an impact, or simply radiate strength and inspiration.

“If you know an extraordinary woman whose story deserves to be seen and celebrated, we want to hear about her,” says Charlotte Anderson-Barrow, Creative Lead at Chelmsford City Racecourse. 

“Every Shade of Showstopping isn’t just about beauty—it’s about confidence, courage, and empowerment. It’s about showing that true glamour comes from within, and we aim to shine a light on the stories which deserve to be heard, celebrated, and supported.”
