110 Declared for Good Friday Festival with Record £265,000 Prize Money Up For Grabs

Chelmsford City Racecourse is set to stage its most competitive day of the year with six of the eight races attracting full fields of up to 16. The high-quality fixture has 110 runners declared across the card and a record total of £265,000 in prize money on offer. The action kicks off at 1.40pm and runs through to 5.30pm, promising an action-packed afternoon of top-class racing.
The Easter highlight promises a thrilling day of racing action, headlined by the 6f bet365 Conditions Stakes (Class 2) at 4.30pm, which will be broadcast live on ITV1. The race features Sky Majesty, trained by William Haggas and ridden by Tom Marquand, who is expected to go off as the red-hot favourite.
Boasting an official rating of 110, Sky Majesty is officially the highest-rated horse ever to run at Chelmsford. The unbeaten three-year-old has delivered dazzling performances across the UK and France, including a powerful late surge at Newbury in August 2024 to snatch victory in the final strides, a decisive Group 3 win at Ayr in September where he stormed from the rear to lead late on, and an impressive turn of foot at Chantilly in October to seize the Group 2 contest.
The day also features the highly competitive 2.50pm 7f Darley EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 2) – which has attracted a big field of 16 runners, underlining the depth of competition throughout the card.
Director of Racing, Neil Graham, commented: “As we celebrate our tenth year, we’re thrilled to offer a record-breaking level of prize money for this year’s Good Friday fixture. It’s a landmark occasion made even more special by the appearance of William Haggas’ exceptional filly, Sky Majesty — the highest-rated horse ever to run at Chelmsford.”
Gates open from 11am with live entertainment, food and drink stalls, and family-friendly activities planned throughout the day.
