Chelmsford City Racecourse is the largest and most flexible wedding venue in Essex. This means we can ensure your wedding day is unique to you and tailored to your vision. With ten different venues on-site, we cater for small, intimate weddings and large events with up to 10,000 guests. Our in-house catering team can accommodate any culinary requirements to ensure you and your guests have a spectacular experience. And we can comfortably serve wedding breakfast to up to 1100 guests in a single space.
Ensuring you have all the support you need, a dedicated wedding manager will be with you from your first site visit and guide you through the whole process. They will accompany you through food tastings and menu sampling and assist with furniture, equipment, and entertainment. Our experienced chefs and catering team can provide a range of dining options for your wedding day. Whether you have always dreamt of a huge seated wedding breakfast or a relaxed buffet-style meal our team will wow you and your guests with a meal befitting of such a special day.
3 Course Served
Always a great option for events large and small, we offer a wide selection of options for served dinners across several of our venues. We can offer this for up to 600 guests (Summer Marquee). We can cater to all dietary requirements and taste preferences. We can also expand on this offering with Four and Five course dinners if required.
Buffet menus
An excellent option for more affordable and more flexible dining for your guests, we offer a plethora of options to suit all events. These menus are available in all on-site venues but work particularly well in the Sports Bar, Fairwood Brasserie and Summer Marquee, where we can offer this style of catering for up to 3000 guests (Summer Marquee).
Late night bites
Looking for a little extra to keep the evening going? We have plenty of options and can also work on bespoke menu items to offer later in the evening.
Canapés
We have a wonderful selection of canapes to suit all requirements, all made with fresh seasonal produce and sourced locally as much as possible, these are not your average canapes. Our chefs work tirelessly to ensure every last canape goes out perfectly, ready for your reception.
Dietary Requirements
We can easily accommodate all requirements, including Halal, Kosher and Vegan food and pride ourselves on offering all manner of global cuisine, including Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, Thai, Turkish and many more. We are also always happy to work with clients on bespoke requests to suit their event and guest taste. Get in touch with our event team to discuss your requirements. We are also more than happy to organise pre-event tastings on request.
A Luxury Wedding Venue Unique to You
For non-raceday weddings the site is completely exclusive and private to you, with 24 hour security, late licenses and no sound limitations, you are free to curate your day as you desire. We offer fully-exclusive private hire and work with a number of local partners and suppliers to assist in every element of planning your big day!
There are 10 venues to choose from on-site and you can opt for any combination of these, alongside outside space if you wish, catering for weddings from 50 to 10,000 guests. There is free onsite parking for up to 1,000 vehicles in our Main Car Park. We are a fully accessible venue with ample facilities and a buggy service to assist with transit.
High speed internet operates across the entire site to ensure you and your guests can celebrate your big day with others who can’t be there. Just a 15 minutes from Stansted, local accommodation is plentiful and we work with a number of coach services to make travel to and from the venue extremely straightforward if required.

Our luxury Wedding spaces offer flexible catering options, plentiful complimentary on-site parking, and a variety of Wedding packages for you to choose from. With manicured grounds that offer extensive amounts of outdoor space and greenery, we have a variety of venues to choose from, and our spaces are best suited for 80 – 1,100 guests.
We can accommodate up to 1,100 guests seated and up to 3,000 standing in our indoor venues. We have a wide variety of wedding spaces to choose from, ensuring we will have the perfect fit for your special day.
All of our Wedding venues are fully accessible with lifts and ramps available where required and accessible toilet facilities in all of our venues. We also provide a buggy service for guests with mobility issues where required, to help you get around the site with ease.

Our catering team offer a variety of menus, from a classic 3 course served meal to informal buffets and food stations. All dietary requirements are easily catered to so you can rest assured every guest will enjoy each bite. If you can’t find the perfect menu listed with us, we will happily curate a bespoke menu to create the wedding breakfast you’ve always dreamed of.
