Owners & Trainers

Chelmsford City Racecourse works hard to provide the best possible experience for owners and trainers who attend. One of our core beliefs is to thank and reward those who make our sport happen.
For any questions relating to owners and trainers please contact our owners and trainers liaison officer.

Facilities and Catering
Situated across from the parade ring, our brand NEW Owners and Trainers facilities overlooks the parade ring and horse walk, complete with a garden terrace. A complimentary welcome drink is offered on arrival as well as a seasonal buffet along with a range of fresh sandwiches. The marquee also holds a private bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
The Owners and Trainers facilities are fully wheelchair accessible and is for only for Owners and Trainers with runners. If you have any questions, please email customer services.

Badge Allocation
The PASS system is in operation so that normal procedures apply for gaining access to the course. Please use the PASS website at www.rcapass.com to manage your badge allocation and the PASS concierge service. Owners badge requests will not be taken over the phone in writing or by email; they must be done using the PASS system.
Sole owners are allocated eight complimentary badges. Partnerships and syndicates are entitled to eight badges. In addition, extra badges may be purchased at 50%, but prior notice by calling the racecourse on 01245 360 300 for additional badges is always appreciated. Badges can be collected on the day from the Owners and Trainers desk at the main entrance; a PASS card will be required for proof of identification.

Stabling and Gallopers
Our modern and quiet stableyard, built in 2007/08 to the latest standards set by the British Horseracing Authority, offers a professional and secure environment for horses in training. With 125 boxes located in a gated yard, ample parking, and a dedicated team on hand, we strive to provide everything needed for a comfortable and efficient stay. Paper or shavings are available as bedding, although preferred materials cannot always be guaranteed.
The racecourse is also a popular choice among trainers looking to gallop their horses, and we take pride in being able to accommodate them. Our close proximity to Newmarket makes us an ideal base for teams preparing for major races, particularly those heading overseas. As a result, our facilities are now an integral part of many trainers’ programmes.
For more information about our stables and how we can support your training needs, please contact our Stable Manager.

Additional Hospitality
As well as offering a complimentary welcome drink on arrival and a seasonal buffet along with a range of fresh sandwiches. We also offer a 20% discount on all hospitality packages in our Fairwood Brasserie and Club Restaurant & Lounge to all owners and trainers who have a horse running that day and may wish to dine in one of these restaurants. Please note that our Club Restaurant & Lounge is for a maximum of 8 per booking, is for 18s and over and gentlemen are required to wear a collared shirt, jacket and tie and smart attire for ladies.
Whilst we retain a number of tables for our owners and trainers on general racedays, our restaurants are very popular and we would encourage booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
Please be advised that this does not include feature event days such as Ladies Day or concert days.
Owners and Trainers FAQs
It is important that you advise all guests attending with you regarding our conditions of entry, as if these conditions are not met, they will not be permitted entry. For further information please see https://chelmsfordcityracecourse.com/legal-policies/conditions-of-entry/
Badge Allocation
We are delighted that you have chosen to have a runner with us at our upcoming fixture and to be able to allocate 8 badges for a sole owner and 8 for a syndicate/club owners.
Please book your badges through the PASS system at RCAPASS by 10.00am on the day of the race meeting. We kindly ask that you provide the required attendee details and not to register multiple guests in the same name. This will avoid any delay at the ticket office in collecting the badges.
Arrangements for advance bookings and/or collection on the day can only be made by the nominated owner. Bookings will not be accepted by third parties on behalf of the owner and unused badges must not be passed on.
A simple step-by step guide to using the system is available from the RCA Website. If you do not have access to the PASS System or need any assistance in its use, please contact the PASS Helpdesk on 01933 270333 or pass@weatherbys.co.uk.
It is important that you advise all guests attending with you regarding our conditions of entry. For further information please see Security | Chelmsford City Racecourse
PARKING | Owners and trainers receive free car parking in a dedicated section of the main car park, situated just off the A131.
WHAT3WORDS | You can use What3Words for directions to the racecourse by using the following: ///punters.award.popular
BUS | There are two public buses from Chelmsford bus station, the No. 70 and No. 352 which run through Great Leighs and onto Braintree. The bus station is a short walk from Chelmsford Railway station. However, due to the nature of the busy A131 the racecourse does not recommend accessing the racecourse on foot from Great Leighs.
TAXI | We suggest that you pre-book your taxi before you attend, to avoid any delays in them arriving.
We are also pleased to provide a buggy service from the ticket office for our guests with limited mobility. Please see below for further information.
Parking arrangements are subject to change for feature racedays and events, due to the large volume attending on those days.
If you wish to arrive by helicopter, please contact the racecourse in advance to arrange this on 01245 360 300.
We offer a buggy service for those with mobility issues, that runs from the ticket office to the main grandstand or the owners & trainers marquee. Guests do not need to book this, it is a complimentary service for those guests that require additional assistance. However, please note this will not run during peak times, due to health and safety restrictions. Therefore, there may be a wait, so we ask for your patience until it is safe for the service to resume. It is also unable to collect any guests from their car and can only operate from the ticket office itself.
Our owners & trainers marquee is accessible to all wheelchair users. Unfortunately, there is no lift to the upstairs owners & trainers bar. There is a ramp that can be used to allow access to winning connections.
We have a disabled toilet in our pavilion, which can be accessed via the ramp outside our main reception.
Horseboxes entry to the stables is via Moulsham Hall Lane and are signposted on entry.
If you wish to invite additional guests we offer a 50% discount on the general admission price for that day. However, you will need to verify that they are your guest at info@chelmsfordcityracecourse.com
Please be advised that these guests will not receive a complimentary drink voucher.
Photographs can be obtained from our official racecourse photographer, Megan Ridgewell, who captures pictures of all winning horses and connections; both on the track and in the winners’ enclosure after racing.
