Christmas Silk Competition
Join in our exciting festive competition to design a unique Christmas jockey racing silk.
Use all your imagination and creativity to create a Silk design that captures the joy and excitement of Christmas.
What is a Jockey Silk?
Simply put, a jockey silk – also known as racing colours – is a silk coat and cap in the colours of the horse’s owner, that is worn by jockeys when they race. Each design is unique so that it can be identified as belonging to that owner, similar to a team’s football kit or school uniform.
The Task
Open to all ages, this competition asks participants to design their own Christmas-themed Jockey Silk. Entries can be submitted using the template provided or be an original drawing/design. You may use any artistic materials of your choice, whether it’s coloured pencils, crafts, digital tools, or a combination. Feel free to experiment!
How to Enter
There are two ways to enter:
- Either post a picture of the design to Facebook tagging @ChelmsfordCRC or post to Instagram tagging @chelmsfordcityracecourse
- Send a photo or scanned image of the design to marketing@chelmsfordcityracecourse.com
Please include the name and age of the entry. The deadline for entries is midnight on the 5th January 2024.
Designs will be shared on our social media channels with followers invited to vote for their favourite. These posts will include the first name and age of the entry only.
Prize
Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and adherence to the Christmas theme. Winners will be chosen in a number of age categories and will win.
- A winners certificate
- General Admission tickets to a raceday for them and their family
- A tour of the racecourse for their school class
- Plus other surprises

The winners will be contacted by email or social post depending on how you contacted us.
When will you annouce the winnner?
Entries will close at midnight 5th January. Winners will be announced on 26th January 2024 and contacted by the 31st January 2024.

- Chelmsford City Racecourse may make the final decision on the competition winner.
